About the Artist:

I grew up in Antioch, California, where there isn’t a whole lot to do… which means a girl can spend a lot of time in her head. I wrote my first children’s book, Life’s a Bowl of Mac ‘n Cheese, in the fifth grade, on lined notebook paper, which I then stapled and illustrated with neon highlighters. (I have since moved on to better art materials.)

I loved to draw and to write, so much so that I was hard-pressed to choose one over the other. I attended Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, where I studied Art and Theater. After college, I had my various misadventures, during which I briefly lived in Los Angeles, and then moved to Boston, where I lived for seven years and, happily, met my husband.

I now live in Brooklyn, New York with my husband and our cat (who modeled for the experimental illustrations The Guitarist and Kattmonster, respectively).
